Sun Outdoors Wine Country in Paso Robles, Ca

This is a beautiful property. We were there in Spring and the tree blooms were beautiful.  Pool is nice and there are two spas (jacuzzi's). This place is well manicured.  There is a wine/ cafe place there and it had a band playing while we were there...in the afternoon.  Outdoor seating.  There were a few food trucks that came  and that was a nice convenience.  There is a dog park.  Restrooms and showers were very nice.  They also had a free wine tasting session.  There is a small sundry/ gift shop also.  

Riverpark RV Resort. Grants Pass, Oregon

 Great Spot on the Rogue River. Had full hookups.  Staff very helpful with helping to get into spot if you need it.  Nice clean restrooms.  Laundry room is spacious and has a table where you can do a puzzle or read...or think about why you are sitting the laundry room.  Beautiful trees and the grounds are kept nice.  We visited in autumn.  Not sure how busy it may be in the summer.  At this time of year it was very peaceful and quiet.  We ended up staying another day as it was so tranquil.

El Chorro Park, San Luis Obispo, Ca

This campground we found to be quite pleasant. There are two RV hookup loops and one tent loop. The sites are listed by size as there isn't overflow parking.  It's about 5 miles from Cal Poly and close enough to drive in to town for restaurants, etc.  Glamping, right?

It is next to a golf course and also a botanical garden.  The gardens are beautiful with sculptures and art throughout. 

Foster Park Campground. Ventura, Ca

 Great park on between Ventura and Ojai.  There are 16 rv sites and also tent camping. It's near Lake Casitas, Ventura and close to Ojai.  We had full hook up. Lots of shade trees, public bathroom and a hiking path.  There is a very nice bike trail nearby (goes for miles) through the mountains and hills.  We enjoyed it here. Quiet and family friendly.

Pismo Sands RV Resort

Nice campground in Oceano, Ca.  Quiet, clean and family oriented. The sites are kind of small with a grassy area.  With the current environment (Corona Virus), we did a touchless check in.  We had a back in spot so we didn't have to share a mutual lawn.  They also have cottages for rent.  Nice pool and laundry.  There is a mini store but was closed.  They did however offer ice or chips, etc...just couldn't go inside the store.  There is shuffleboard.  Some sites have a fire ring and some don't.  It is located south of Grover Beach and Pismo Beach.  Lots of very interesting things to explore nearby.  Beach towns, nature, and culture.  We would stay here again if we are travelling up north.

Hobson Park Ventura County

Nice campground on the beach.  The ocean front ones are non hook up.  You can use RV or tent camp.  There are stairs down to the shore.  Sometimes (we visited in February), the tide is too high for a beach.  We did get a few days of beach, though and enjoyed it very much. Lots of families here and it's also open to the public for day use.

It was quiet in the evenings.  The ocean sounds were great!!  The train goes by periodically.  I love the train sound.  It's also close to many beach choices and a bike path along the shore.   One little drawback, I found is that the spaces are tight and parking few.  Once you get all relaxed from the ocean sound and view, it'll be okay.  One car per site.

Lake Castaic, Ca

Beautiful campground.  We went in the beginning of April.  There are no hook ups, so keep that in mind.  We brought our RV and had the most fantastic lake view.  It was uncrowded and very clean.  There are restrooms, showers, fishing pier, fish cleaning station and more.  You can rent boats at the upper lake.  There is tent camping as well.  In the summer it can get pretty warm, so you most definitely won't find me there at this time of year.  But hey!  Other people like the heat.  There is a swim beach (seasonal) as well.  You can fish from the shoreline near the camping also.  It is patrolled by L.A. Sheriff's and it felt pretty safe.  I'm not sure how busy it is in the summer, but I imagine it is busy.  A great area if you want to come in for a picnic too!  Will definitely return.

Ventura Ranch Koa, Santa Paula, Ca

We've camped here before several times.  We were in the Birch section and had a patio and pull thru.  Peacocks roam in the mornings and evenings.  Very kid friendly place.  We had a view of the mountains...B32.  The weather was perfect this time of year.  Didn't need a/c and only a little heat in the evening.  Lots to do for kids and very family oriented.  Hiking trails, zip line, bouncy pillow. Little store at the office.  

Steckel Park Santa Paula, Ca

Nice spot with 10 full hook ups.  Shady trees.  There is a picnic area, bird aviary and tent camping.  We camped here in April and the weather was perfect.  There are some peacocks that roam the area.  Clean showers and bathrooms.  You can make a reservation if more that two weeks ahead, otherwise first come basis.  

Lake Piru, Ca

We camped here in January.  Nice and quiet and uncrowded.  It may be busy in the summer.  Got a great lake view.  We had full hook up.

Was here over Christmastime.  It is part of the Pechanga Resort Casino.  All of the ammenities that you can think of.

The RV resort is more of a suburban feel versus the nature type of places, but the chocolaty rocky road ice cream mountains in the backdrop are gorgeous.

Lake Pyramid RV Park Gorman, CA

Just off of the Grapevine (I-5) on Smokey Bear Road.

We came here on the windiest night in America.  We survived though.  Hosts are very nice.  No fires allowed at certain times of year unless you have a fire ring.  Weather can be extreme in these parts...cold, hot, windy etc.  The pool (solar heated) looks nice....closes in November.  

Mt. Pinos is nearby and a great little day (30 min away).  We went to see the snow, etc.  Also Lake Pyramid is just across the highway but don't know much about that.

Mt Pinos, about 25 minutes away.  Go north thru Frazier Park

Ocean Mesa RV Resort, Goleta, Ca

This place is awesome!!  We stayed in December, yes, chilly...but it is so peaceful.  We had a nice fire and gorgeous sunset.  There is a small breakfast place to walk to (sister cabin/ camping property) and it was very quaint, rustic and good.  Heated Pool, jacuzzi and massage avail.  Gift shop.  There is also a llama pasture to hike to.  El Capitan State beach is across the road...a small drive or bike to.  The sister property offers complimentary bikes to use.

Rincon Parkway Ventura, Ca

Unique spot on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway 1) between Hobson and Faria Beach.  The exit if going north is Seacliff.  It's a first come basis and with mucho ocean view and beach, keep that in mind.  Mountains are just behind you beyond the highway.  There are about 125 ish spots...maybe a few more.  Fee is $28 a day...yes that's correct!!  For an ocean front view and beach access.  Put cash or check in the supplied envelope with name/ license plate etc and pop in one of several metal poles.  Put your receipt in your RV window.
Paved spots big enough for motor coaches and travel trailer and truck.  Sand area in front of you and wall or beach rocks depending on which location.  We were in spot 14 and walked south about 30 yards for beach access (near space 20).  Many of the higher numbers have no wall and most beach access I believe. As you are driving south, the numbers get higher.

We didn't stay overnight because of work and such but plan to next time.  Amtrak runs just near as well.  We all love the sound of the train!!  I do!!  Will definitely return.  It's a dry camp situation, so if you need a/c or extras stuff like that...bring a generator.  One car permitted with each spot.  So beautiful.

Ventura Ranch Koa, Santa Paula, Ca

Got a great shady spot in the Cedar section.  Quiet beautiful landscaping in the mountains of Ventura.  There are wild Peacocks that peruse the area.  They are not shy. 

Pool is wonderful with plenty of seating and amazing views. 

Nice office staff and public store.  Many activities for kids. Smaller Zipline (although I wouldn't do it!), Climbing Rock, Jumping Pillow, Bike Track and  Big Foot hiking trail.

Cabins, Teepees  are also for rent here.

Tent camping available.  Clean restrooms and showers.

We had Electric and water hook up for our travel trailer.  There is a pumpout station for free use or you can reserve a time and have someone come to your camp to do it for you/ $15.

Great place!  Downtown Santa Paula is quaint...nice main street with shops and eateries.  It is a sleepy town so expect things to open later...etc. 

Flying Flags RV Resort, Buellton, Ca

We got one of our first tastes of glamping here.  We rented a cottage!!  All was great and the deck was fabulous.   Hey..baby steps, right?  I now know that a camper was in our future. 

Enjoyed the condo like cottage with deck and full kitchen.  Very clean.

We invited our pro camper family to join us here...who drove from Marin County area to check it out.  I think they liked it too.  They brought their Cocker Spaniels and they ran about a bit in a doggy park.  The doggy wash machine wasn't working at this time.

They have nice camp spaces, common fire pit/ area near the office and a little general store.  There are also Airstreams to rent.

I think the prices are high for the RV spots, but it is very tranquil and clean. 

There is a golf course right across the street and the Danish village of Solvang is just a few miles away.

Lake Casitas RV Park. Lake Casitas, Ca

Located in Ventura County.  This is a big RV Park.  There is also a water park which you can pay separately.  Ya know...float down in a lazy pool river in a tube.  Great for kids.  We found lots of locals here. One night a bit noisy..the second was okay. 

The lake is low...drought evidence.  You could see that the marina has moved.
Nice little cafe near the marina area.  Fishing is still in the mix.

Tent camping areas

Nice...campy store!!  I enjoyed looking at the camp non-necessities, tchotchkes...and yes, and onions etc...if you run out.

We had a nice paved spot.  We did not have sewer, but there is a pump out available which we took advantage of on our way out.

I enjoyed this campground but it may be a bit busy for me.

Oh!  I almost forgot...The Ojai shuttle has a stop throughout the campground (takes you to town of Ojai)..Neato Bandito!!

Visited again in Winter (California winter).  Really enjoy Angler section.   Stayed in A 1 which was private and closer to docks and small cafe

Camp Comfort. Ojai, Ca

Great little camping spot.  Full hook ups. 15 spaces...I thought a perfect size.  Mature Oak trees.  There is a day park attached which closes at 9.  Camp Host great and keeps the place in check.  Noise curfew, clean bathrooms and some rowdy patrol.  We enjoyed our first time out in a "campground."
It's said to have some hauntings we found out (the most haunted campground on the west coast of California.)  The town of Ojai is just a mile or 2 away.  Very much enjoyed this little spot

Fairways RV Resort, NBVC Port Hueneme, Ca

First time glamping with the newmobile.  Port Hueneme Navy Base.  It's not on Yelp yet, not sure why.  We did pretty well considering we were "new."  Only one lil detail...something about backing up and hubby having to set up twice.  Nothing to break up the marriage over or anything.

Quiet place next to the Golf Course on Base.  He golfs, you shop...(department store items at bargain prices).  It's stuff we need for the RV anyway, plus some new drapes for home.

There were some ants that were mentioned at check in.  I didn't really feel we would be affected because we are very careful with crumbs etc...and...we were eating outside!  Well...after day 3, they were everywhere.  So, trust me on this one...just buy some little ant motels and toss them around your pads interior.  Carpenter ants...harmless but again...everywhere.

It's a little chilly and  windy, surprisingly.  Guess closer to the ocean than I imagined...and we live nearby. 

Nice laundry and paved paths around...safe place to do some biking circles.  I did at least 2 (when I saw the real bicyclist do a bunch)...I was inspired!  Hah!
